As some of you may or may not have noticed, we have been going through a bit of an identity crisis the past 2+ years. When we first opened our proverbial ‘doors’ in 2011 we were young, ambitious and relatively naive. We scrapped, saved and pinched the few extra pennies we had to put into building a business and finally went for it after many years of talking about it.
When it came time to create our company logo we were overly excited and figured we would easily knock it out the park. We had already worked with high profile companies, had a couple of good years of experience under our belts and felt extremely confident. Then, we smashed head first into a wall. A wall we never saw coming: DESIGNING FOR YOURSELF. Oh, shit.
Designing for yourself — in a nutshell — is as close as you can get to impossible. When you work with a client, you have someone to give you feedback and to make a final decision. You might not always agree with their feedback for final decision, you might think they have lost their god forsaken mind and you will have clear explanation as why they are wrong. But when it comes to being your own client, that all gets turned upside down. There is no right and wrong, there is no up, there is no down and there sure as hell is no ‘final decision’ being made. There is only struggle, indecision and confusion.
But, as they say, where there is a will there is a way.
So, after a looong battle with ourselves, each-other and even Frannie (that hovering bark director always want to chime in), we have finally burst through the other-side of the wall. WE FINALLY HAVE A FOREVER LOGO! And we have even taken the time to create a comprehensive identity system for our own ‘brand’, as we do with lots of our clients. We will be slowly and subtly introducing those elements, but for now go ahead and bask in the glory that is the logo. Take a big gulp, its sure feels good going down!
