ROTI

PROJECT

Roti Modern Mediterranean has one purpose and that is to serve Food That Loves You Back. So when they decided to update and modernize their brand, the came to the right people. Roti wanted to create an image that could embody that mission and visually represent their brand in a beautiful way. They asked us to create a brand illustration that would be used as a large-scale, in-store artwork installation at numerous locations across the country.

Leadership: Carl Segal & AD: Kristen Caston

RESULT

24 Roti locations — throughout the Chicagoland, New York, Virginia, and Washington D.C. areas — were adorned with the brand illustration mural work, in a variety of wall surfaces and materials. The final brand illustration showcases a plethora of rich vegetables, olive oil, wholesome grains, lean proteins and many other delectable ingredients from their delightful cuisine. Equally beautiful and delicious. Lunch anyone?

Dispensary 33

MAKE_Dispensary33_Mural_3G

PROJECT

Dispensary 33 is the city of Chicago’s first medical cannabis dispensary. We were lucky enough to be asked to do a large mural that encompassed the entire transaction counter for their beautiful new Andersonville location. With the likes of Linsey Rosen and Jaime Magaliff from Perimeter Architects at the helm of the project, how could we say no. Ooowee.

RESULT

With the interior of the space having a very sophisticated, modern aesthetic we referenced a vintage botanical specimen style of illustration to show the growth process of a cannabis plant. The right side shows from seed to sprout and the left a full, lush cannabis plant. We utilized the bright chartreuse pop color of the D33 brand and went crazy with some nice, black line-work.

Bader Rutter Chicago Mural

PROJECT

When full-service marketing communications agency Bader Rutter expanded to Chicago they wanted to adorn their office with some windy city style. We were enlisted to develop and illustrate a 30-foot city map, but not your run-of-the-mill tourist map. No, no, no. They requested a unique, playful and borderline ‘weird’ (yes, this was actually in the project brief) interpretation of the city. A map from the view of a true Chicagoan, highlighting some of the famous city icons but focusing on local legends and neighborhood gems.

RESULT

We utilized a laundry list of authentic Second City stuffs: iconic loop architecture, famous Jazz clubs, local delicacies (BEEF!), the smell of chocolate by Bloomers and even dirty dives like Richard’s Bar. After some imaginative city planning, a bunch of playful puns and many days of drawing (a seriously giant drawing), our re-imagining of Chicago was complete. As an added bonus, we actually learned about a plethora of historic tidbits like the Cattle Path, the infamous Walking Dude and distinct bungalow-style houses.
