Fatback Mural

We had a blast teaming up with Charlie McKenna and The 50/50 Group to help bring the vibe of their new deli and lunch spot, Fatback, to life. We were tasked with creating a custom mural for the space. We wanted the art to feel like a direct reflection of Charlie’s work, so we blended his flavor with a vintage butcher shop aesthetic and the polished charm of 1950s Parisian storefronts. We leaned into bold, hand-lettered styles and nostalgic illustrations that make the shop feel like it’s been a neighborhood staple for decades mixing that old-school European "boucherie" elegance with a local touch.
One of the the coolest part of this project had to be Fatback’s opening night. There’s nothing quite like seeing your work live in a space, surrounded by people and experiencing our work as it was intended. Even better, the Fatback team placed a vintage meat slicer at the deli station directly in front of the mural to lean into the contrast of old versus new, that was reflected in our design, it worked perfectly. Watching the community enjoy the food and talk about the art was a special moment we won’t soon forget. in the meantime, go get some sandwhiches!
Shout out to Charlie McKenna and the Fatback team, Greg Mohr at The 50/50 Group, Jaime Magliff and Brian Flemimng from Corten Collective for bringing us on, and the whole team at Tishman Speyer!
The pig drawing was supplied as part of Fatback branding, and not designed by Make and Co.
